In her paper she offers a layered exploration of what an inaugural professorial lecture might be. Attempting a Foucauldian critique, the paper asks to the assumptions and effects of the enactment. She presents three analytical sketches, each illustrating some possible ways to sense into academic work. In doing so, she hopes to show why it is interesting and important to pay close attention to the continuities and discontinuitues of academic cultures and practices.
